The Nationalization of 5G?

A proposal backed by the U.S. national security apparatus

Recent headlines make it clear there is a growing debate over the future of U.S. politics, specifically as it pertains to free-market capitalism and the tendency of bureaucrats toward socialist programs. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal is a perfect example, even if it’s extreme for the Progressive side of the aisle. Health care choice or single-payer Medicare for all is another.

One item that seems to be flying under the radar of free-market, liberty-minded individuals, however, is the government’s push for 5G cellular technology.

A simple search for “Secure 5G – The Eisenhower National Highway System for the Information Age” will produce a link to the House of Representative’s document archive for the PowerPoint presentation below.

Secure 5G

“Secure 5G” Excerpt:

The advent of ‘secure’ network technology and the move to 5G presents an opportunity to create a completely new framework to safely, securely, and reliably transport and share information.  While ‘4G’ was an evolution of ‘3G,’ simply promising faster speeds, ‘5G; is by no means simply a ‘faster 4G’ – despite the chronological moniker.  This next generation technology, combined with a concerted effort by public and private entities, can position the United States to leap ahead of global competitors and provide the American people with a secure and reliable infrastructure to build the 21st century equivalent of the Eisenhower National Highway System – a single, inherently protected, information transportation superhighway (p. 7).

In short, the “Secure 5G” presentation seizes on the need for the U.S. government to take the lead in establishing a national 5G network similar to when Eisenhower established the Interstate highway system or Kennedy started the space program (Source: “Secure 5G,” p. 5). On Feb. 21, President Trump made his own push for the advancement of 5G – even 6G – technology.

More recently, President Trump’s 2020 campaign manager, Brad Parscale, made it clear that 5G technology should be privatized, which contradicts the “Secure 5G” report above that proposes a government-owned structure.

As early as November 2017, members of the House of Representatives have been considering the importance of 5G technology to advance U.S. competitiveness, as seen in the document below taken from the House of Representative’s archive.

The Race to 5G and its Potential to Revolutionize American

“The Race to 5G” Committee on Energy and Commerce hearing excerpt:

Information is power, and the ability to communicate and process information faster provides a competitive advantage. History shows countries with the best communications have the highest economic growth. A recent report concluded that doubling mobile data use leads to a 0.5 percent increase in per capita Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rates, and a 10 percent expansion of mobile penetration increases productivity by 4.2 percent (p. 1). …

The advancement of 5G holds promise to revolutionize American competitiveness across virtually every sector of the economy. However, U.S. leadership in 5G may be overtaken by international competitors if federal, state, and local policies constrict development and deployment of this technology (p. 2).

In May 2018, the House introduced legislation regarding the Internet of Things (IoT), as seen in the document below taken from the House of Representative’s archive.

Internet of Things Legislation

“Internet of Things Legislation” Committee on Energy and Commerce hearing excerpt:

The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to a growing network in which connected devices, services, and objects collect and exchange data.1 Almost any physical object can be transformed into a “smart device” by equipping it with microchips, sensors, and wireless communication capabilities (p.1).

Consumer applications, such as wearable technology, in-home smart speakers, smart appliances, and the like, also offer many benefits. … Increasingly, consumers are turning to wearable technology, as this market is expected to reach 162.9 million units by 2020 (p. 2).

As reported in previous articles, IoT will be one of the primary benefactors of 5G technology, and the government’s interest in consumer wearable technology fits perfectly with the International Monetary Fund’s push for the establishment of a cashless society. It also happens to match the aspirations of former DARPA chief, Regina Dugan, who advanced the concept while working at Motorola while owned by Google.

The government may use the potential revenue that ownership of the 5G spectrum may generate as one reason for their push for control, as seen in the quote and position paper below, but make no mistake, the real issue is international intelligence and military superiority.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has a very good track record, having raised over $100 billion from spectrum auctions to date. Furthermore, demand for wireless broadband capacity will continue to grow at a robust pace, and increasing industry revenues will support acquisitions of additional spectrum. The direct carrier revenues for the wireless industry are approaching $200 billion per year, generating significant cash flows over the coming years to support further spectrum acquisitions of the levels estimated here. (Source: “The Next Wave of Spectrum Reallocation,” p. 5)

The Next Wave of Spectrum

The “Secure 5G” presentation first mentioned above makes it clear that China – and specifically Huawei – is poised to lead the global development of 5G technology. That is why the President and the U.S. intelligence and military apparatus are aggressively pushing for U.S. dominance.

Whoever leads in technology and market share for 5G development will have a tremendous advantage towards ushering in the Massive Internet of Things, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and thus the commanding heights of the information domain. (Source: “Secure 5G: The Eisenhower National Highway System for the Information Age,” p. 8)

On Sept. 15, 2017 the Secretary of Defense named information a joint function. The memorandum states:

“The advent of the Internet of Things, the expansion of information technology, the widespread availability of wireless communication, and the far-reaching impact of social media dramatically impacted operations and changed the character of modern warfare.”

In the 21st Century freedom is won and lost in the information domain. Our citizens and companies live in relative peace and security in all other domains, because of our powerful military. Yet, every day they face a warzone in the information domain. …

The President unveiled his National Security Strategy on December 18, 2017…  Embedded within the strategy was a short but powerful phrase: “We will improve America’s digital infrastructure by developing a secure 5G Internet capability nationwide” (Source: “Secure 5G: The Eisenhower National Highway System for the Information Age,” p. 15-16).

According to The Hill, “Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said in May that building a 5G mobile broadband network is a chief concern for the Trump administration. ‘Whoever pursues it, whoever does it, we’re very much in support of 5G. We need it. We need it for defense purposes, we need it for commercial purposes,’ he said.”

U.S. officials may be pushing for the lead, fearing China may assert an early advantage due to Huawei and ZTE’s rapid growth and governmental advantage (Source: “Secure 5G,” p. 8), but 5G is not solely a U.S. v China competitive advantage problem for commerce, intelligence or military superiority. It’s a coordinated international movement led by the United Nations.

America must lead the effort to harmonize international standards for what constitutes 5G. The United Nation’s International Telecommunications Union Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R) plays a role in the global management of radio-frequency spectrum to avoid cross-border interference and help harmonize standards necessary for international performance.12 ITU-R organizes the World Radiocommunication Conferences (WRCs) every 3 to 4 years to review and revise the international Radio Regulations. The next WRC meeting (WRC-19) will consider spectrum bands to be identified for 5G, and is scheduled to commence on October 28, 2019 (Source: “The Race to 5G,” p. 4).

To some this may sound conspiratorial, but there is a reason I keep addressing these technological advances. The introduction of 5G technology and all it promises, including the advancement of IoT, RFID technology, digital currency and wearable technology, all fits within the framework foretold in the book of Revelation where individuals who do not comply with the end-times regime by receiving a “mark” will be unable to buy or sell and possibly executed.

Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name. Revelation 13:16-17 (ESV)

It’s important to discern the signs of the times as Jesus instructed (Matthew 24-25), so we may be prepared for all that scripture foretells regarding the end-times. Please understand that Jesus promised to return after all the end-times events unfold, and when He does, there are no second chances. He is coming to execute judgment on all who failed to accept His free gift of reconciliation. That may sound harsh, but He has extended every opportunity for the willing to respond. Those who don’t are without excuse.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.  Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.  And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.” John 3:16-19 (ESV)

  1. Thanks for the information. I have heard that 5G can case health problems. The government does not seem to be addressing that information. I wonder if 5G is going to be like some of the prescriptions that have been approved. Years later people are dying or have serious health problems as a result of taking them. Then again, this is just one step closer to the end of the age. Come Lord Jesus and accomplish all you have said in your Word. We look forward to the new world you have for those who choose you for their Lord and Savior.
